Successfully developed the first commercial reconfigurable 5G RF transceiver chip in China
According to the China Mobile Research Institute, on August 30th, at the Fourth China Mobile Science and Technology Week and Strategic Emerging Industry Co creation and Development Conference, China Mobile released its core independent innovation achievement "Breaking the Wind 8676" reconfigurable 5G RF transceiver chip. This chip is the first in China to be designed based on a reconfigurable architecture, achieving a critical breakthrough from zero to one, filling the domestic gap in this field and effectively improving the autonomy and controllability of China's 5G network core equipment.
Li Nan, Deputy Director of the Wireless and Terminal Technology Research Institute of China Mobile Research Institute, responsible for the research and development of "Breaking Wind 8676", said that RF transceiver chips are the translator between radio waves and digital signals, just like the five senses of the human body, converting sound and light into neural signals of the brain. They are key components in 5G network equipment, with high research and development difficulty and urgent industrial application needs, and are known as the "pearl" on 5G base stations.
China Mobile established a joint laboratory for chip research and development enterprises in 2021 to carry out the research and development of the "Breaking Wind 8676" reconfigurable 5G RF transceiver chip, covering the entire process of chip specification definition, front-end and back-end design, simulation verification, performance testing, and overall integration.
At present, the "Breaking Wind 8676" chip has been successfully integrated into the overall equipment of multiple top partners, and will play an important role in the next stage of low-cost and highly controllable commercial network construction of 5G, represented by network devices such as cloud base stations, pico stations, and home stations.
