Semiconductor giants talk about next year's prospects: healthy growth and steady rebound?

At the end of 2023, the semiconductor industry experienced a relatively difficult period in the first half of the year due to factors such as economic headwinds and sluggish demand for consumer electronics. However, in the second half of the year, the market continued to release positive news, and the reduction of memory factory production was effective, and the prices of related products stopped falling and rebounded; Driven by seasonal demand, shipments of smartphones and laptops have achieved growth; Strong demand for high-performance chips driven by artificial intelligence; The automotive semiconductor market continues to grow... How will the semiconductor market develop in the future? Recently, TSMC, NXP, and Renesas have provided answers.

TSMC: Next year will be a year of healthy growth

On December 13th, when asked about the semiconductor business situation next year, TSMC Chairman Liu Deyin pointed out that the semiconductor market next year will be a year of healthy growth. Please rest assured.

Previously, on December 8th, TSMC President Wei Zhejia stated to the public that 2023 is in a period of inventory adjustment. Despite external factors such as high inflation and continuously rising costs, there is still uncertainty in 2024. However, due to the rapid development of AI applications, 2024 will also be a year full of opportunities.

Wei Zhejia emphasized that we must develop technologies that can provide excellent performance while effectively controlling power to meet the growing demand for AI computing power. In addition, sufficient production must also be provided to meet terminal demand, while continuing to cooperate in terms of cost.

Enzhipu: Positive outlook on automotive semiconductors

Recently, Ron Martino, Executive Vice President of Global Sales at NXP Semiconductor, stated to the public that even though the growth expectations of the global electric vehicle market are expected to slow down, the development of automotive semiconductors has always been the most impressive part of the semiconductor market. Therefore, in terms of automotive semiconductor business, according to NXP's previous financial report conference performance and outlook, it is expected to maintain a growth state.

Ron Martino introduced that NXP's performance in 2023 is led by automotive semiconductors, followed by industrial IoT applications, and then mobile communication and network infrastructure application semiconductors. Among them, 50% comes from the automotive semiconductor market and 20% comes from the industrial IoT market, which makes NXP expected to maintain strong growth momentum in the future.

In order to meet the demand of the automotive semiconductor market, NXP has recently launched new products to seize the business opportunities of electric vehicles, and actively collaborated with partners to create scalable solutions.

Renesas: The market is expected to steadily rebound

According to Nikkei News, recently Renesas President Hideki Shibata stated that the industry has made progress in destocking and is expected to steadily rebound in 2024.

Shibata Yingli is optimistic about the development of generative AI next year, believing that it will drive the growth of the semiconductor market in 2024. In addition, Shibata Yingli also pointed out that AI related data centers will further expand, and the number of servers and network devices accommodated in them should also increase significantly. AI and its surrounding fields cannot see the limits of growth.

As for the consumer electronics market, Hideki Shibata stated that smartphones have become a cyclical market, while the growth of the computing chip market, including personal computers, is stronger.
